Overview

Wander + Ivy, a Denver-based premium wine brand, sought to introduce a sparkling wine product to their single-serve lineup using a mobile bottling system. They required a fully integrated, portable carbonation skid capable of precise CO₂ and nitrogen injection for high-quality sparkling wine production.

Problem

The customer needed a compact and mobile carbonation skid that could seamlessly interface with their existing bottling process. It had to precisely control gas injection for carbonation levels up to 6 g/L, manage flow rates up to 17 GPM, and support chilled wine while operating in a non-hazardous environment—all while meeting high-quality production standards.

Solution

TMPC designed and built a custom, portable carbonation skid equipped with:

  • An ASME-rated insulated tank
  • Mass flow meters for wine and gas
  • Precision control valves and transmitters
  • A stainless steel electrical panel featuring a CompactLogix PAC, VFDs, HMI, and ethernet/IP devices
  • Full PLC and HMI programming with production and CIP modes
  • Onsite commissioning and operator training

Results

  • Enabled precise and repeatable carbonation of wine
  • Supported seamless integration with mobile bottling systems
  • Delivered a reliable, easy-to-operate solution that elevated Wander + Ivy’s new product launch
  • Successfully commissioned in Napa, CA with hands-on training and testing support
  • Built-in flexibility for future process enhancements
