Overview

TM Process & Controls, Inc. was contracted to deliver a comprehensive power system study for a major beverage manufacturer located in the U.S. Virgin Islands. The scope included engineering analytics and on-site inspections focused on electrical safety, compliance with NFPA 70E and IEEE 1584, and overall system coordination.

Problem

The client required a comprehensive understanding of the risks and behaviors of their electrical distribution system, including identifying potential arc flash hazards, validating short circuit resilience, and ensuring appropriate protective device coordination.

Solution

TMPC performed an extensive on-site inspection and data gathering effort, followed by engineering analysis using EasyPower software. A complete set of reports, visual Time-Current Curves (TCCs), and arc flash labels were provided to ensure code compliance, safety visibility, and optimized system performance.

Results

  • Identification and labeling of approximately 600 pieces of equipment with arc flash hazard information
  • Increased safety and compliance with NFPA 70E standards
  • Detailed coordination study with visual representations of device behavior
  • Better understanding of electrical system capabilities and potential failure points
